Maths with Gemini Live โ€” keep this open while you work

The rule: AI helps you get unstuck and check. You write every answer. Never submit AI work.

Before you start

  • Pen, paper, and the study guide / tutorial letter open.
  • Open Gemini Live (voice). Turn on the camera so you can show your working.

For every problem โ€” 4 steps

  1. Try the first step yourself on paper.
  2. Stuck? Ask for ONE step, not the answer:

"Don't give me the answer. What's the first step here, and why?"

  3. Show your working to the camera:

"Here's my working โ€” where did I go wrong, and why?"

  4. Write the final answer yourself, then check it:

"I got this answer. Is it right? Explain what I got shaky on, and give me one similar problem."

Always verify (AI gets maths wrong sometimes)

  • Calculus: check an integral by differentiating your answer โ€” you should get the original back.
  • Linear Algebra: check an inverse by multiplying matrix ร— inverse โ€” you should get the identity matrix.

When something won't click

"Explain [concept] a completely different way โ€” plain words, then one example with real numbers, then ask me a question to check I got it."

Remember

  • The exam is ~80โ€“90% of your mark and closed-book. You must get 40%+ in the exam to pass.
  • The assignment is your practice for the exam โ€” that's why you do it yourself.
  • 3โ€“4 short sessions a week beats one long cram. One topic per session.
